• Welcome to the two hundred and third WikiProject Yorkshire monthly newsletter.

• Thanks to the contributions of our many members and supporters, WikiProject Yorkshire has become a leading local British WikiProject in terms of the total number of articles supported (up from 20,194 last month to 20,304 on 27 February 2025). In the area of GAs WikiProject Yorkshire at 226 is ahead of WikiProject Greater Manchester who have 91. WikiProject Yorkshire also has the lead in FAs at 95 while WikiProject Greater Manchester has 64 out of a total number of 5,184 articles.

Aims

After discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Yorkshire in April 2008.

Specific aims for the project are:-

• To complete tagging and assessment of all Yorkshire related articles (See Assessment)
• To recruit more active editors (See Member News)
• To bring our top level article Yorkshire up to Featured article status
• To bring all other top priority articles (currently 15 with 2 at FA) to at least Good article status
• To set up a weekly or monthly selected article improvement drive
• To produce a regular news letter for circulation to members

  Please be careful when performing articles moves and ensure that you also move all the talk sub-pages and update any image fair use rational. Otherwise the archives, to-do lists, assessment comments and GA reviews get lost and the image may be deleted as it has an incorrect FUR. You will also have to check that the Commons link is set correctly.

• To set up a weekly or monthly selected article improvement drive
• To produce a regular news letter for circulation to members

• Welcome to the two hundred and seventh WikiProject Yorkshire monthly newsletter.

• Thanks to the contributions of our many members and supporters, WikiProject Yorkshire has become a leading local British WikiProject in terms of the total number of articles supported (up from 20,632 last month to 20,723 on 30 June 2025). In the area of GAs WikiProject Yorkshire at 234 is ahead of WikiProject Greater Manchester who have 91. WikiProject Yorkshire also has the lead in FAs at 96 while WikiProject Greater Manchester has 64 out of a total number of 5,222 articles.

Yorkshire Day

Happy Yorkshire Day to all our members. The official honour this year is a joint one between Bradford, as part of its' Year of Culture celebrations, and Ilkley. Thanks to all for looking after the Yorkshire articles that we support as a project. Would be good if more members would get involved in improving the articles and in fixing the various problems flagged on the articles. There are also a number of articles suggested on the project's to-do list that need creating if you find the time to get them started.

Wiki Loves Monuments

This month is the annual Wiki Loves Monuments, may be we can do some photographing this month and get some relevant photographs in the Yorkshire area that are listed buildings without photographs. You can find articles for buildings that are listed in the sub-categories of Category:Listed buildings in Yorkshire. There are various list articles in Category:Lists of listed buildings in Yorkshire that you can scan to see where photographs are missing.

• Welcome to the two hundred and tenth WikiProject Yorkshire monthly newsletter.

• Thanks to the contributions of our many members and supporters, WikiProject Yorkshire has become a leading local British WikiProject in terms of the total number of articles supported (up from 20,903 last month to 21,060 on 29 September 2025). In the area of GAs WikiProject Yorkshire at 237 is ahead of WikiProject Greater Manchester who have 90. WikiProject Yorkshire also has the lead in FAs at 96 while WikiProject Greater Manchester has 64 out of a total number of 5,290 articles.

Aims

After discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Yorkshire in April 2008.

Specific aims for the project are:-

• To complete tagging and assessment of all Yorkshire related articles (See Assessment)
• To recruit more active editors (See Member News)
• To bring our top level article Yorkshire up to Featured article status
• To bring all other top priority articles (currently 15 with 2 at FA) to at least Good article status
• To set up a weekly or monthly selected article improvement drive
• To produce a regular news letter for circulation to members

Priority Articles

The top priority articles that have been identified to date are as follows -

• Bradford • Doncaster • East Riding of Yorkshire • Henry Moore • Kingston upon Hull • Leeds • Northern England • North Yorkshire • Ripon • Sheffield • South Yorkshire • Wakefield • West Yorkshire • William Wilberforce • York • Yorkshire • Yorkshire and the Humber

The number has been kept deliberately low to give us a fighting chance of improving them to at least GA status, also so we can concentrate our efforts on these first.

Wiki Loves Monuments

Thanks to all who took part in the annual Wiki Loves Monuments to get some photographs of listed buildings. There was 67 photographs of Yorkshire submitted during the month. North Yorkshire had the most at 34, followed by West Yorkshire with 32, South Yorshire manage just 1 while the East Riding of Yorkshire did not submit any photographs.

Happy Christmas

It is the festive time of the year so a happy Christmas to all members of the project. At this time some of the regulars are away so it is more important that those who are available look out for vandalism on articles that are supported by the project. We need to guard all of the hard work of members, also keep an eye out for those article been nominated for deletion so none are lost unnecessarily.

• Welcome to the 213th WikiProject Yorkshire monthly newsletter.

• Thanks to the contributions of our many members and supporters, WikiProject Yorkshire has become a leading local British WikiProject in terms of the total number of articles supported (up from 21,237 last month to 21,304 on 5 January 2026). In the area of GAs WikiProject Yorkshire at 241 is ahead of WikiProject Greater Manchester who have 88. WikiProject Yorkshire also has the lead in FAs at 99 while WikiProject Greater Manchester has 64 out of a total number of 5,408 articles.
