Rationing in Cuba was implemented in 1962 following the revolution to provide "equitable" distribution of food and some other basic products. A "supplies booklet", was assigned to every Cuban household, giving them the right to buy, for a small fraction of the actual cost, a basket of foods such as rice, meats, sugar, dairy products, coffee, tobacco, oil, and beans.
