It was the 15th NXT TakeOver and inaugural TakeOver: Chicago. It took place on May 20, 2017, at the Allstate Arena in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont, Illinois as part of that year's Backlash weekend and aired exclusively on the WWE Network.
