MacDonald "Mac" Gargan is a supervillain appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko, the character first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #19 (1964). He is the first and best-known incarnation of the Scorpion, and has endured as one of the superhero Spider-Man's most recurring villains belonging to the collective of adversaries that make up his rogues gallery.
