Dr. James E. Waller is an American social and political psychologist whose work focuses on the psychology of rank-and-file perpetrator behavior, the prevention of genocide and other forms of mass atrocity, and human rights. As of 2026, he is a recognized scholar in the field of Holocaust and genocide studies. He currently resides as the Gladstein Family Distinguished Chair in Human Rights at the University of Connecticut (UConn). At UConn, he is also the Acting Director of the Gladstein Family Human Rights Institute and is a Professor of Literatures, Cultures, Languages, and Human Rights.
