Gunhilde is said to have been the sister of Sweyn Forkbeard, King of Denmark, and the daughter of Harald Bluetooth. She is said to have been the wife of Pallig, a Dane who served the King of England, Æthelred the Unready, as ealdorman of Devonshire.
