General insurance or non-life insurance policy, including automobile and homeowners policies, provide payments depending on the loss from a particular financial event. General insurance is typically defined as any insurance that is not determined to be life insurance. Accident insurance is built on the principles of mixed life insurance - limiting the scope of the insurer's liability to the agreed consequences of an accident suffered by the insured. This ensures the affordability of insurance premiums and promotes the development of insurance. Enterprises face a similar risk with respect to third parties, but as a rule obtain it as general liability insurance.
