Sir Ellis Emmanuel Innocent Clarke was a Trinidadian lawyer, politician, and diplomat who served as the last Governor-General of Trinidad and Tobago from 1972 to 1976 and the first President of Trinidad and Tobago from 1976 to 1987. He was one of the main architects of Trinidad and Tobago's 1962 Independence constitution.
