• Comment: This was already declined because of inadequacy of sources, and no new sources have been added, so it was unlikely I would accept it. But I do concur with the earlier decision. A few of the sources cited here do come from relevant major publications, but they do seem to focus too much on things like "society weddings". What is really needed is a statement in the article head showing that this person has accomplished something of note beyond inheriting wealth and a job in the family business. Ryan Kerry Stokes AO (born 1976) is an Australian business executive. He started his career as financial analyst before moving into board position. The current the CEO of the Australian Seven Group Holdings, Stokes was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in 2020.^[1]

Early life and education

Stokes was born in Perth in 1978, the son of Australian businessman Kerry Stokes^[2][3] and his second wife,^[4] Denise Stokes.

He grew up in Western Australia^[3] and attended Christchurch Grammar School in Claremont. He later obtained a bachelor of commerce degree at Curtin University^[3] in 1997.

Career

Stokes’ early career was as a financial analyst for Merrill Lynch in New York.^[4]

He went onto to hold several executive positions at Yahoo, Consolidated Media Holdings, Pacific Magazines and WesTrac China^[5] before he became the CEO of Australian Capital Equity Pty in 2010 and CEO of the family-owned Seven Group Holdings (SGH) in 2015,^[6][2][3] credited with increasing the group's revenue and earnings.^[2]

Stokes has been the chair of the National Gallery of Australia since 2018.^[6][7] He was also the chair of the National Library of Australia from 2012 to 2018^[6] and the National Youth Mental Health Foundation from 2005 to 2009.^[8]

Awards and honours

Stokes was appointed an officer in the general division of the Order of Australia (OA)^[3] in the Queen’s birthday honours on 8 June 2020, for service to business and the community.^[1]

Personal life

Stokes married Claire Campbell in 2016.^[9][3] The couple have three children.^[3]
