Clondalkin is a suburban village in County Dublin, Ireland, approximately 10 km (6 mi) west of Dublin city centre. It is within the administrative jurisdiction of South Dublin. Founded as a monastic settlement in the early 7th century, Clondalkin rose in significance during the early medieval period, becoming home to a scriptorium that produced illuminated gospel manuscripts and to one of Ireland's earliest and slenderest round towers.
