The CWB Group is a Canadian organization providing certification, education, registration, consulting, services to the welding industry. Headquartered in Ontario, Canada, it operates in 45 countries and serves more than 10,000 companies.
The CWB Group is accredited Certification Body by the Standards Council of Canada, and administers welding standards on behalf of the Canadian Standards Association.
Services
The CWB Group provides mandatory and voluntary welding certifications intended to meet national and international standards. Is certifies welders. welding inspectors, welding supervisors, welding engineers, non-destructive testing (NDT) technicians and welding electrodes and consumables.
The organization also offers education and training programs for welders, inspectors and engineers, and provides ISO registration and quality management consulting for industries including shipbuilding and structural steel. The Canadian Welding Association (CWA) a membership body for welding professionals, fabricators, and manufacturers, operates as part of the CWB Group.[1][2][3]
Authorized National Body (ANB) Status
The CWB group serves as the Authorized National Body (ANB) in Canada for the International Institute of Welding (IIW) and is authorized to issue diplomas under the IWP, IWS, IWT and IWE programs. It also holds Authorized National Body for Company Certification (ANBCC) for the IIW providing certification services under ISO 3834.[4]
Office of Public Safety
The CWB Office of Public Safety was established in April 2013with the stated aim of enhancing public safety through oversight of welded structures. The Office developed the "WeldQuality Mark", a certification mark the companies meeting CWB certification requirements may use to implicate compliance.[5] It also maintains a website providing information for the public, industry and government including a mechanism for requesting investigations into enforcement issues and participates in Canadian, American and international technical committees on welding standards.[5]
Canadian Welding Association (CWA)
The Canadian Welding Association (CWA) has existed since the early 1920s and became part of the CWB Group in May 2008. It currently has a membership of over 36,000 individuals. Dan Tadic serves as Director of the CWA.[6] The CWA has 24 local chapters across Canada and states its goals as educating companies and employees, and improving productivity, profitability and safety within the Canadian welding industry. It also represents the welding industry to federal and provincial governments.[7][8]
