i need help on the porter-cologne water quality control act article cuz wikipedia suggested me to edit it --Kenama5847478 (talk) 20:08, 14 August 2026 (UTC)
- I don't know anything about the subject matter. If you're not sure how to improve that particular article, just move on to some other article and try to improve it. If you're looking for articles in need of improvement, try taking a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:08, 15 August 2026 (UTC)

Thanks! and a request with linking an image
Marchjuly, I see you re-added an image to the Gizella Hervay article. Thank you!! I'm still learning the ropes here. I was trying to include this existing photo, not as her main profile image but as a secondary in-line photo to go with her bio... I cannot get it to display properly, may I trouble you to assist? https://hu.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hervay_Gizella#/media/F%C3%A1jl:Hervay_Gizella.jpg Joe.Varadi (talk) 01:56, 24 August 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Joe.Varadi. You can't use the Hungarian Wikipedia file because it's uploaded locally to Hungarian Wikipedia (i.e., its a "local file"). Since the file's licensing seems to have been verified by c:COM:VRT, that file should actually have been moved to Wikimedia Commons because files uploaded to Wikimedia Commons are "global files" in the sense that they can be easily used by all Wikimedia Foundation projects (like English Wikipedia). The fact that file exists actually make the local non-free file you uploaded to English Wikipedia no longer compliant with WP:NFCC#1 (WP:FREER); so, it's going to need to be deleted. There are two things you can do now. The first one (if you understand Hungarian) would be to download the file from Hungarian Wikipedia and reupload it to Wikimedia Commons. You should use the same file description and the same copyright license as is being used for the local file. You can even use the same file name if you want. Once you've do that you can replace the syntax of the non-free file you uploaded to English Wikipedia with the syntax for the file you uploaded to Commons. You can then tag the local file you uploaded to English Wikipedia with
{{db-author}}and request that it be deleted per WP:G7. Hungarian Wikipedia is a different project than English Wikipedia and I'm not sure how they delete local files, but something similar should probably be done there. The other option would be for you the ask the person who uploaded the file to Hungarian Wikipedia to either move or reupload the file to Wikimedia Commons. They still appear to be active on Hungarian Wikipedia but I don't know whether they understand English. You can try using an online translator to interact with them if you don't really understand Hungarian. Just explain you want to use the file on English Wikipedia but are unable to do so because it's not uploaded to Commons and ask them if they'd move/upload the file to Commons for you. Explain to them that once the file has been moved to Commons, it will still have no problems being used in any of the Hungarian Wikipedia articles where it's currently being used as long as they use the same file name on Commons. -- Marchjuly (talk) 08:43, 24 August 2026 (UTC)- Marchjuly, Hungarian is my native so no problems there. I'll take your suggestions and sort this out. I'm learning each day about tags, WP shortcuts and protocols... Thanks, much appreciated! Joe.Varadi (talk) 14:10, 24 August 2026 (UTC)
