Thanks for your comments about using LLMs to create new Wikipedia pages. I'm a Quebec vlogger and journalist who has been involved in the Montreal music scene for decades.
I've noticed lots of errors in Montreal artists' Wiki pages that I've been able to correct from having first-hand knowledge of the music industry in this city, and have been able to verify through other sources. I thought it would be useful to Wiki to write pages on some artists who are important in Canada, but often get overlooked in the USA.
You are right in detecting that I used an LLM to write the basis of the article: I thought it would assist me in following the usual "template" of a musical artist, with a basic intro paragraph, followed by "Early Life", "Critical Response" and "Discography" etc. and therefore be better suited to Wikipedia.
Would it be acceptable if I completely rewrote the actual prose myself, using the existing sources as raw material, using the important citations from the New York Times, Globe & Mail and CBC but write the sentences in my own words and voice?
I've read the "WP:AIPOLICY" page and will be following its guidelines. Do you recommend I edit the draft and resubmit it, or edit the draft and then ask for help at the Articles for creation help desk?

Thanks Nil NZ, I have completely rewritten a large portion of it, and it is much better! AI didn't even do a good job!
And I'll check to ensure that all the references are indeed not hallucinated and are real, existing links. A few of the best references (e.g. his New York Times, BBC Radio & Globe & Mail coverage) are behind paywalls and cannot be accessed by others without subscriptions to those publications--are those alrifght to use?
Paywalled sources are all good to use! Ditto with offline sources – as long as the reference provides enough details that anyone who theoretically has access is be able to find and verify the content. In solidarity, nilnz 23:35, 30 July 2026 (UTC)
Alright! Does this article look better to you now? My best sources for notability on this are paywalled, but I believe I have them properly cited and retrieved by Wiki. I'm also hoping it reads better to you, since I deleted big chunks, rewrote everything, and got rid of all AI prose. Thanks for the assistance, eh?
Just had a skim through, and it's looking much better! One part did still stand out to me was WP:AIATTR in the sentence In 2016, CBC News profiled McClelland during a cross-Canada tour, focusing on the themes of historical change and nostalgia in his songwriting. Encyclopedia readers want to know about the tour itself, and not the fact that is was profiled by CBC News, so would recommend rewriting and using the CBC article as a citation (no need to attribute in text). Something along the lines of In March 2016, embarked on a cross-Canadian tour, organised by Home Routes, performing "intimate" shows to audiences of 50 people or less in small towns in Manitoba and Saskatchewan Prairie. for example would better serve and inform our readers. I'm also not sure where the AI got the focusing on the themes of historical change and nostalgia in his songwriting, as those don't appear apparent in the source (which doesn't discuss his songwriting at all, aside from a throwaway line about his last album being "inspired by life on farms in the 1920s"). It would be worth just double checking the text-to-source integrity elsewhere in the article one last time before resubmitting for review. In solidarity, nilnz 23:29, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
Oh, I take responsibility for the bad writing in both of those: they're not AI, they are mine, I'm embarrassed to say! I found it difficult to make the "Career" section not start with the same "McClelland did this in 2016..." & "McClelland did this in 2017..." over and over and was trying to add some variety in the syntax and paragraphs.
Regarding the "themes of historical change and nostalgia", that was interpretation on my part, and based on my love of the album the CBC article is talking about. Thanks for the help on this:)
