Block of Dbyfoundation12
The account Dbyfoundation12 (talk · contribs · logs · block log) doesn't have the word "bot" in the username, but was blocked for this incorrect reason – Template:uw-botuhblock. As far as I can tell, it was a misclick in Twinkle, because it is a promotional username with promotional edit: Special:Diff/1225576167.

Broken link
In the User talk:Masharabinovich page, the user's request can't be accessed and I am shown an "Unauthorized" error page. Is this supposed to occur? Oakchris1955 (talk) 11:52, 14 February 2026 (UTC)
- Yes, that's how it should work. You'll need to become a global renamer in order to read it. And be prepared to be disappointed. Cabayi (talk) 14:30, 14 February 2026 (UTC)
- Is there any particular reason that rename requests can only be read by global renamers? I can only think of privacy reasons, but then again, everyone can see that an account has been renamed in the old account page. Oakchris1955 (talk) 14:39, 14 February 2026 (UTC)
- The fact of the renaming or vanishing is publicly logged on meta and cannot in general be concealed.
- The reason the user gives for requesting a rename or a courtesy vanishing is private information which, in general, given in private and kept private. It is expected that renamers should not divulge the reasons given. Cabayi (talk) 15:45, 14 February 2026 (UTC)
- Okay, I didn't know that the reason for renaming is considered private information. You can archive this section if you want to. Oakchris1955 (talk) 17:32, 14 February 2026 (UTC)
Explanation
That was only one connected incident? If I could have just gotten a warning I could have WP:DROPPEDTHESTICK
shane (talk to me if you want!) 16:32, 16 February 2026 (UTC)
- You declared yourself aware of the issues surrounding BLP, no further warnings necessary or welcome.
- ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
- Doxxing people for a second time after it was reverted? Pfft.
- If you have no concept of proper handling of personal information it's not tenable that you should continue to have access to it. Cabayi (talk) 22:42, 16 February 2026 (UTC)
Flagged page - correction has been made
Hello- I believe that you are the one who would need to remove the COI flag on the Gianmarco Soresi page. Could you please let me know that you have seen my correction? Is there anything else you need before removing the flagged heading? KathrynMusilek (talk) 18:13, 20 February 2026 (UTC)

Your block on User talk:CFS at Hcc - update suggestion
@Cabayi: You placed a {{uw-softerblock}} on User:CFS at Hcc. I take the name to stand for Columbia Film Society at Howard Community College. Given that that account created Draft:Columbia Film Society (currently tagged for G11 speedy deletion), I suggest that the block should be updated to {{uw-spamublock}} as the account is promoting itself by creating a the draft. Thanks for your consideration. I leave it to you to update the block if you see fit. — ERcheck (talk) 01:44, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for the ping ERcheck. Let me outline my thinking.
- CFS at Hcc created a COI draft. That's allowed. It's the COI route that's encouraged. It's only once the piece is promoted to mainspace that it's absolutely not allowed.
- They declared their COI in the initial revision of the draft. Also kind-of declared on their user page. Fully compliant with the WMF's terms of use as enforced on enwiki.
- That leaves the promotional username violation as the only outstanding issue.
- IMO, that's a soft-bleck (fix your username) not a hard-block (explain yourself!). I have no problem in seeing the draft deleted G11, but that's not blockable either. If you see it differently I'm not going to stand in your way. Cabayi (talk) 09:35, 11 March 2026 (UTC)

Block message
Actually if you look at the history of User talk:Beauto, I didn't overlook the block message. They added a malformed appeal, and then blanked the appeal along with the block message. Thanks for restoring it. ~Anachronist (who / me) (talk) 16:44, 26 March 2026 (UTC)

Okay to change block?
Greetings! You recently soft-blocked NewPagePatroller for username violation. I have a feeling they're a sock, and I would like to upgrade the block to a hard one. Didn't want to wheel-war, though, so wanted to run this by you first. Any objections? -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 15:24, 3 April 2026 (UTC)
- You think they've been here before. They admit they've been here before. Why is this sockpuppetry rather than a clean start? TBH, I'm not sure I see that their precocious competence provides a policy based reason to check, let alone to hard block. No objection to an SPI case. Cabayi (talk) 15:44, 3 April 2026 (UTC)
- Just came to say that on second thoughts, I'll take it to SPI. That way it's not based solely on my hunch. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 16:02, 3 April 2026 (UTC)

Vandalism at Rumen Radev
Hi! A certain troll account with 10 or so edits claims on their USER PAGE to be responsible for the Rumen Radev page, as you also know. They are edit-warring right now and are basically trolling. They were warned that this could get them blocked, but they don't care. Also, they've BLANKED their talk page where you correctly warned them that 'no one OWNS a page'. I need yours or someone else's help from the admins. Thanks. Taqiyyah Qatarson (Talk) 22:16, 25 April 2026 (UTC)
Re: Doxxing accusation
I'm sorry but I'm not seeing how it's "doxxing" another editor when he's making those statements on a public, visible platform, and not just once but repeatedly towards myself and Captain Galaxy. In the past it's been viable to mention when such has been done on reddit for canvassing incidents. Here it's viable to argue he's acting in bad faith when he's dragging both of our names, and even discussing with other editors in that context.
I would prefer to avoid an ANI as I don't think that editor has any interest besides one article. But certainly as an established editor you can understand the frustration, and I have no interest nor intention to harass him or anyone, especially when I feel like I'm the harassed party. Kung Fu Man (talk) 20:23, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
- Wikipedia's policy against DOXXING specifically states "Personal information includes ... personal profiles on external sites". The user had not revealed the connection to the social media site on Wikipedia, so your revelation was doxxing. We can't police the whole internet or prevent doxxing on other websites, just Wikipedia. If you have any relevant private info (i.e. any off-wiki evidence) it should be sent to ArbCom, not raised on-wiki. Cabayi (talk) 20:47, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
- I didn't realize that included public open statements on other websites, which was the point, but I could see in retrospect how it could be argued as such. That said I feel a fellow editor on this site, even if their activity is limited, shouldn't be my name or Galaxy's like that and it does arguably paint a picture that the DRN was not in good faith. Is there any way to discourage him taking future swipes short of ArbCom?--Kung Fu Man (talk) 20:57, 27 April 2026 (UTC)

- Students in the same university class it would appear. Using their real names, bad idea. Writing about themselves, bad idea. But nothing of concern.
- WikiEdu won't provide support outside the US & Canada but their training material might be useful to their instructor. Passing the link to the students so they can pass it on to their instructor would both be helpful and let the instructor know that their work is not unnoticed. Cabayi (talk) 09:46, 5 May 2026 (UTC)
