Nomination of Little Giant Fire for merging into 2026 Washington wildfires
The article is being discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Little Giant Fire until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may still edit the article, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the AfD notice from the article until the discussion is closed.Disruptive discussion conduct
Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Talk:Legality of the Israeli occupation of Palestine. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page, and seek consensus with them. Alternatively, you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant noticeboards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. This warning concerns the discussion conduct described below.
In your opening comment, you wrote, "Hi Amicicuriae since you've been here since 2013 I hope you understand that Wikipedia articles should be based on secondary sources". The reference to my tenure was personal and unnecessary, especially considering secondary sources were provided that you indicated you did not have the time to read, stating "Well this is a wall of text".
After I identified and summarized the secondary sources supporting the revision and carefully pared the article down to the areas that are not in dispute, you wrote in this comment, "When you dump a very long comment on the article talk page and editors don't respond to every point brought up, it is inappropriate to interpret it as acceptance of every part of the edit besides those explicitly opposed." After objecting to my inference from silence, you added, "I'm not going to play this game". You did identify several general content objections, but you did not address the secondary sources supplied in response.
Your generic edit war warning identified neither the page nor the revisions at issue. WP:EW expressly advises editors who are themselves involved not to post generic edit war warnings.
While you have agreed to no longer "play this game", continuing to insist on wholesale removal in this matter in the future while declining to address the specific sources or proposed text would resemble the discussion avoidance described at WP:STATUSQUOSTONEWALLING, including refusing to continue substantive discussion and dismissing discussion because of its length. Please keep further comments civil and specific, and comply with WP:CIVIL, WP:AGF, WP:CONSENSUS, and WP:CTOP. — ac talk 06:53, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
- Amicicuriae please don't edit in the Israel/Palestine topic area unless you are willing to abide by all WP rules, including the one-revert restriction. (t · c) buIdhe 06:57, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
- I abided by the one revert restriction, in that what you are describing as a revert was substantially different and did not interfere with any area where an editor had raised an issue. You are not allowed to stonewall discussion by conducting an indiscriminate revert and then refusing to engage substantively. — ac talk 07:35, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
- Amicicuriae this edit meets the criteria for a partial revert, as it restored some of the content that had been reverted (not by me), less than 24 hours previously. If you don't understand how reverting rules work, I suggest editing in a less controversial topic area. Furthermore, "The responsibility for achieving consensus for inclusion is on editors seeking to include disputed content." (WP:ONUS) most editors would agree it is best practice, when your edits are opposed, to post a comment on the talk page to see if the proposed changes have consensus first. Good article nominations RfC
Hi Buidhe,
There is an ongoing Request for Comment (RfC) at Wikipedia:Good article nominations/August 2026 RfC, which you may be interested in because in the past year, you have nominated or reviewed more than one good article nomination. This message has also been sent to all subscribers to the Good Article Gazette. The RfC contains many proposals (33 at the time of writing), which are split into the following categories: nominators, reviewers, reviews, volunteer roles, reviewing initiatives, and others. However, you are more than welcome to add any proposals of your own that you wish to put to the community.
By the end of September, all the proposals will have been closed by an uninvolved editor, either as a consensus for one of the options or with no consensus. At this point, editors will be invited again to develop these proposals into coherent policy and implement them.
Thank you for your contributions to the good articles project, and I look forward to your input! (in solidarity), JacobTheRox(talk|contributions) 16:02, 11 August 2026 (UTC)

Second time on pamukoglu
Well, im not gonna argue with you here. I guess an editor on wikipedia knows more than my some guy's father who served directly under the commander youre editing i guess, my father never called his commander the "Legendary Commander" to me ever... yeah.
Anyway, Since your point is that every Turkish source is wrong --Even tho the current government never uses Pamukoğlu as a point of propaganda, the government that youre claiming using him as a propaganda tool, even banned his entrance into military instutions. https://www.odatv.com/guncel/osman-pamukogluna-askeri-yasak-131576 , This basically debunks your whole point but anyway-- We should remove every Turkish source from the page no?
"Pamukoğlu stepped down from party leadership on 1 March 2015, effectively marking the end of his active political involvement.[11]" - Turkish source
"21 of the cross-border operations conducted against the PKK were carried out by Pamukoğlu. Pamukoğlu claims that most of these 21 cross-border operations were unauthorised and that permission was only obtained from Ankara on one occasion. He also claimed that prior to the operation for which permission was obtained, certain officials in Ankara had contacted Barzani, who then informed his units.[10]" - Turkish source
"In 2007, Serdar Akınan's documentary Kan Uykusu [tr], which examined the Turkish-PKK conflict during his years of service, focused on his efforts fighting against the PKK.[9]" - Turkish source
"He was promoted to brigadier general in 1993 and rose to the rank of major general in 1997. Pamukoğlu retired from the rank of major general in 2002, having served a total of 43 years in the Turkish Armed Forces. Pamukoğlu has been awarded the Gold Medal of Distinguished Courage and Self-Sacrifice, the Medal of Distinguished Courage and Self-Sacrifice twice, and the Medal of Excellence in Unit Training [tr] five times. Pamukoğlu is the only person in the Turkish Army to have received five Medals of Excellence in Unit Training. He retired from military service at the age of 55.[8]" - Turkish source
"Pamukoğlu was born in 1947 in the Gerze district of Sinop. He started military school at the age of 11. He studied at Selimiye Military Middle School [tr], Kuleli Military High School, the Turkish Military Academy, the Tuzla Infantry School Command, the Army War Institute, the Joint War College, and the National Security Academy [tr]. He served as an infantry officer for 10 years and a staff officer for 16 years in field command and headquarters officer positions. Between 1990 and 1992, he served as commander of the 42nd Infantry Regiment in Edirne, between 1993 and 1995 as commander of the Mountain and Commando Brigade in Hakkâri, and between 1998 and 2000 as commander of the 28th Mechanised Infantry Division in Northern Cyprus, and the Tuzla Infantry School Command in Istanbul between 2000 and 2001.[8]" - Turkish source
This claim of yours: "Unfortunately, there don't appear to be reliable sources for the content. due to lack of press freedom in turkey i don't know if the country's newspapers can be considered reliable sources for topics such as these" is EXTREMELY unjust and unfair to the things this guy have done. I mean most of these claims come DIRECTLY from the documentary "Kan Uykusu", Which Pamukoglu himself, many of his veteran soldiers and officers joined and talked about their experiences. Which this page also includes parts of the documentary but for some reason you seem to ignore the other things shown in that documentary
Theres not much to debunk here. Saying "Turkey lacks press freedom" doesnt clear up any questions. We can still put the operations he has done and his achievements and write "He estimated, he claimed." etc. I suppose you dont speak Turkish so your best bet at understanding what source originates from where is me as i speak Turkish. For example the estimate of PKK number in Hakkari and Iraq going down to 6,000 from 12,000 is something Pamukoğlu said himself in an interview (i can elaborate and send you a video of him saying exactly that). That doesnt mean we cannot put it in the article, we can just write it again and at the start place "Pamukoğlu claimed that..." and to many other sentences.
Please let us come together and fully fledge out this page properly instead of just deleting everything just because you didnt like it or me adding everything back because i dont agree with you. This is geniunely an important page for me as my own father fought under the command of Pamukoglu. Understand where i am coming from, so just saying "Pamukoglu advocated for depopulating kurds" as the PRIMARY sentence of the article is absolutely unjust and makes Pamukoglu looks xenophobic and it seems like the page is trying to push a narrative against him. My father had many Kurdish friends who served, fought and died right beside him, and im not even talking about the village guard system.
If you refuse to elaborate or help out (as youre clearly a more experienced editor than i am) i will revert your edit and try my best at writing things as claims and estimates rather than showing everything as stated fact. CharlesTheGrim (talk) 11:41, 21 August 2026 (UTC)
- Well, I'm not an expert in Turkish media, it's always possible that I'm wrong about some of them, but a newspaper from any country can't simply be assumed to be reliable. However, personal experience (wp:No original research) and the subject's claims in a documentary (wp:aboutself) cannot be used for any debateable assertions. Please check in at wp:rsn for other editors perspective. However we're never going to disregard what scholarly sources say because people close to the subject don't like it. Hi, on the ghetto question
Seems the names of the World War II Holocaust ghettos are uppercased on Wikipedia, and if this is incorrect then a requested move would be the way to go to lowercase the lot of them (except for Warsaw Ghetto, which spans many pages and uprisings). If uppercase ghetto is incorrect then how did the name become so uppercased here? Thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 05:10, 24 August 2026 (UTC)
- Randy Kryn the incorrect assumption here is that either case is "correct" or "incorrect"... both can be found in reliable sources, and going around changing one to the other isn't benefiting the encyclopedia. (t · c) buIdhe 05:36, 24 August 2026 (UTC)
- It doesn't seem to harm the encyclopedia but improves it, as the direct links for Holocaust-era ghettoes all uppercase here. Why reduce the use of a Wikipedia proper name (proper names are uppercased on Wikipedia), even if other sources lowercase? One of the things I love and cherish about w. is that the words "Sun", "Moon", "Earth" and "Solar System" are correctly recognized as proper names, even as many magazines and other sources do not, and the Holocaust ghettos seem to me to be in the same boat. Thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 05:52, 24 August 2026 (UTC)
- Randy Kryn I don't see how your personal preference is relevant to article quality.
- These ghetto names are not consistently capitalized in RS, they should not be capitalized on WP either. Have you ever considered creating content and expanding the encyclopedia instead of imposing your capitalization preference, just a thought. (t · c) buIdhe 06:00, 24 August 2026 (UTC)
- Then please start an RM to de-capitalize the proper names of the Holocaust ghettoes and turn them into common nouns, although I don't know why you would want to do so. My efforts to professionalize Wikipedia by using proper names, italics, etc., are just some of the things I do here. Randy Kryn (talk) 06:05, 24 August 2026 (UTC)
