Wikipedia:Naming conventions (UK Parliament constituencies) was changed to disambiguate only when necessary per Wikipedia talk:Article titles#RfC on pre-emptive disambiguation in constituency article titles. Also a further note that Amakuru made about using Clacton (constituency) instead of Clacton (UK Parliament constituency) when disambiguation is needed but it is the only constituency seems a good idea. This was discussed at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Archive325#On the underlying issue... where it was noted that the titles could be expected to be more general rather than specific topics namely Leeds North West refering to the area of Leeds in general. As far as films and songs go many of them have generic names but there was apparently consensus to only use qualifiers when necessary but as far as villages like Ramsholt go it would be silly to have Ramsholt, Suffolk as there is no reason anyone would expect anything else. What would be your view on Talk:Reform (disambiguation)#Requested move 28 May 2026? Do you think Reform qualifies as a broad-concept article and should be primary or do you think that article is not encyclopedic or that Reform UK is so much more likely that it makes more sense at least to have the DAB page at the base name. NCE

I don't understand why this appears to have crept into NCE, as per Talk:Manchester Arena bombing/Archive 5#Requested move 3 October 2017 I thought that with events apart from the likes of 2026 East Surrey Council election where we expect there to be another election in 5 years and as such the year is a key part of the title and as such they couldn't be "easily described without it". I don't think we should go against established consensus but it does look like this rule is an example of local consensus. User:Born2cycle/Unnecessary disambiguation User:Born2cycle/FAQ apply. I understand people have pointed out that events are often descriptive titles rather than proper nouns but just using the location and what like Bangkok nightclub fire seems fine and already gives you more description than the likes of Blue Afternoon and Fenrother and titling it 2009 Bangkok nightclub fire would wrongly imply to readers that there was another such fire in a different year, why have titles that imply things that aren't the case?
