Sumayyah was a companion of the Prophet Muhammad and the mother of Ammar Ibn Yasir, a prominent companion of the prophet. She was an Arab from the lineage of 'Ans, from the Madhij tribe of Yemen. She was born around 20 years before Prophet Muhammad and at the time of her martyrdom was an old, frail woman of around 60 years old.
