Saint-Amand-Montrond is a commune in the Cher department in the Centre-Val de Loire region of France and the historical province of Bourbonnais about 26 miles (42 km) southeast of Bourges, in the basin of the eastern banks of the Cher which separates it from the commune of Orval.
