A rhinoceros, commonly abbreviated to rhino, is a member of any of the five extant species of odd-toed ungulates (perissodactyls) in the family Rhinocerotidae. It is the only living family in the superfamily Rhinocerotoidea. Two of the extant species, the black rhinoceros and the white rhinoceros are native to Africa, while the other three, the Javan rhinoceros, Indian rhinoceros and Sumatran rhinoceros are native to South and Southeast Asia.
