Phosphoinositide 3-kinase regulatory subunit 6 (also called p87PIKAP) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the PIK3R6 gene.[5] The PIK3R6 protein is a regulatory subunit of phosphoinositide 3-kinase-γ (PI3Kγ), which functions as an enzyme (a lipid kinase) that is activated by membrane receptors.[5] PIK3R6 is highly expressed in the heart and is present in dendritic cells, macrophages, and neutrophils.[6] It is also referred to as p84 and p87.[7] Some studies have found PIK3R6 to have a role in carcinogenesis.[8]
