Ninjutsu , shinobi no jutsu and ninpō are terms for the techniques and skills used by ninja, who were covert operatives, irregular warfare specialists and intelligence gatherers in pre-modern Japan. Some of these techniques are recorded in ninja scrolls, several of which have been published and translated. The study of these scrolls have changed the perception of ninja and ninjutsu.
