Emergence delirium is a condition in which emergence from general anesthesia is accompanied by psychomotor agitation. This phenomenon can result in significant discomfort to the patient, as well as their treatment team and any family members who may be present. It may require additional nursing and medical treatment, which may delay discharge from the facility.
